Looking for GOLD? It might be here!
The Lost Canyon Placer, in the Hope Mining District, is comprised of about 98 acres of land that follow Cache Creek from the Gold Basin commercial mine at nearly 12,000 feet down to a placer recreation area.

This property has not been surveyed and the map to the right is approximate. The aerial below the map shows the BLM depiction of the claim. The BLM interactive map shows much more detail.

There is road access at the bottom, good access about mid-way up and access near the top. Travel on CR 398 , which goes to the top, and Gold Basin Mine, is dependent upon season and snow. The lower part is normally accessible. Most of the mine activity appears to have been near the switchback in the road. There is good access here along with a couple of old buldings.

This parcel would make a great holding for a recreational mining group. Cache Creek Mining Area

Lost Canyon Placer stretches top to bottom...west to east...and encompases about 98 acres. The above map is the result of an overlay of the county plat onto a topo map. (Terrain Navigator) While not a particularly good fit, you can see the shape of the claim. The map below shows the claim with an aerial overlay from BLM.
To get a better handle on the property, go the BLM interactive map. Click on the Lat/Lon button at the top of the screen and enter the coordinates 39.032786 and -106.332626. That will be about the center of the claim at the switchback near the buildings. From there you can more west (up) and east (down) the claim.
Cache Creek flows downhill along the placer. Wild flowers abound for much of the way.

This aerial shows the apparent work area with access at the CR 398 switchback. Notice the buildings and access roads to neighboring areas. The barn may be usuable, the other building not.
This picture is near the top of the claim as the road heads down and east.
The topo map above show the realtionship of the road, Cache Creek and the claim boundary. Note that Cache Creek is within the claim boundary for most of the length,
